Overview

Technical writers play an instrumental role at Seismic, delivering accurate, user-focused documentation for new product releases and updates, and maintaining our existing documentation to the highest standards.

Writers on the Technical Communications team work within a centralized model with shared governance, tools, and processes. Our team is embedded in the Product & Engineering organization, enabling close collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers. We support product teams based in the US, China, and India.

To meet growing demand, we’ve recently established a new arm of our documentation team in India. We’re looking for experienced technical writers who can work independently, take full ownership of their projects, and contribute to a high-performing global team.

Who you are:

  • BA/BS in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience writing customer-facing documentation in Agile/Scrum software environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with DITA and structured authoring.
  • Proficiency with Oxygen XML and a DITA CMS such as Ixiasoft (or similar).
  • Exceptional command of written English, with a strong grasp of clarity, tone, and flow.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines without close oversight.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a deep commitment to quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones and collaborate with globally distributed teams.
  • Eagerness to learn complex technical concepts and simplify them for users.
  • Familiarity with any of the following is a plus: CDP platforms such as Fluid Topics or Zoomin, HTML/CSS, UX design, API documentation, Camtasia, Captivate, Pendo, AI-assisted authoring tools.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the end-to-end development of technical documentation for assigned products and features.
  • Author high-quality, customer-ready content using Ixiasoft (our DITA-based cCMS).
  • Ensure editorial consistency and clarity across related content areas.
  • Edit your own work to a publish-ready standard—grammar, clarity, cohesion, and structure.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to understand feature requirements and customer use cases.
  • Track feature development across sprints, ensuring all documentation is scoped, developed, reviewed, and published on schedule.
  • Conduct content audits and revise, update, or retire documentation as needed.
  • Identify gaps in existing content and proactively recommend solutions.
  • Bring a problem-solving mindset to all aspects of documentation work.
  • Collaborate with global team members to maintain standards, share knowledge, and build a positive, inclusive team culture.
  • Use feedback and analytics to continuously improve content quality and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with evolving product functionality and adjust documentation strategies accordingly.
  • Embrace ambiguity and work proactively to resolve blockers.
